Bay of Naples aka Brandy Pond
Frontage entirely in the town of Naples. The Pond is viewable from the draw bridge on Route 302 that separates this body of water from Long Lake. From Brandy Pond you can take a boat onto Sebago Lake if you were go through the locks on the Songo River. Of corse you can also boat directly into Long Lake under the draw bridge on the Route 302 Causeway. The bridge is fairly high even when it is not raised, so you can usually boat under the bridge with a bow rider type boat that is less than 20' long, and with most pontoon boats that have a convertible top that can be folded down. From May through October the draw bridge is raised every 2 hours starting at 8:00am and ending at 6:00pm.

Highland Lake
Frontage in the town of Bridgton. About 1300 acres. This Lake has no public Marina. If you like a quiet Lake with a lack of traffic on it, Highland is curiously large considering that lack of traffic. Because the lake is in Bridgton, you will be a very quick drive to the ski slopes at Shawnee Peak. Also from here you can commute from the Lake through Fryeburg, and then you are in Conway NH, right at the slopes of Wildcat, Bear Peak, and numerous shopping venues. If you are a ski enthusiast that enjoys access to several mountains, this is the place to be. Another 4 season getaway..

 Little Sebago:
Frontage in the towns Windham, Gray, and Raymond covering an area of around 2000 acres. One thing about Little Sebago is that it is not really visible from any of the major roads that drive close to it. The lake is surrounded by routes 85 in Raymond, 115 in Windham, and 202 in Raymond, yet it is not visible at all from any of these major routes. It is far enough away from them all so that there is virtually no road noise either. With all this access you would have a great commute to anywhere, yet it is still very peaceful. Property values are high on this lake for that reason and many others.

Long Lake:
Frontage in the towns Naples, Bridgton, and Harrison. This is a long thin lake, and it covers just over 4500 acres, with a maximum depth of over 60'. This is a very desirable lake with very high property values. I would say that most of the ownership on this lake is out of state 2nd home owners. This lake is in the heart of the lakes region, and from it, you can boat into Brandy Pond, and then go through the songo locks onto Big Sebago. That can make for a full day in the boat. This lake offers just about equidistant commutes to both Sunday River and Shawnee Peak. Of course, if you are on the Bridgton part of the lake, it is a shorter commute to Shawnee, and longer to Sunday River. Lots of options here.

Moose Pond
Frontage in both the towns of Bridgton and Denmark. About 1600 acres, the advantage to this lake is that you can be literally right across the street from the ski slopes at Shawnee Peak. Also from here you can commute from the Lake through Fryeburg, and then guess what. You are in Conway NH, right at the slopes of Wildcat, Bear Peak, and numerous shopping venues. If you are a ski enthusiast that enjoys access to several mountains, this is the place to be. Another 4 season getaway..

 Norway Lake:
Frontage in the town of Norway Only. Also know by its Indian Name " Lake Pennessewassee". About 900 acres, the advantage to this lake is that you are very close to Sunday River ski area, probably around 1/2 hour depending on what part of the lake you are on. If you are a true ski buff, this is the best lake to be on. You will be a short drive to the slopes in the winter and of course you will enjoy the lakefront in the summer.

Panther Pond
Frontage entirely in the town of Raymond. About 1400 acres. This Pond is actually bigger than a lot of the bodies of water around here that call themselves Lakes. It is the perfect example of there is not that much logic as to how a body of water gets the designation of being a lake or pond. Panther is very a very wide body of water for its size. It is possible to take a canoe up river from Panther and go onto Crescent Lake. It is also possible to canoe down the Panther Run, which is a river that flows into Sebago Lake. Property values are always high on Panther because of the fact that it is also commuteable to Portland. Therefore it is not necessarily just the domain of the out of State, second home buyer.

Pleasant Lake
Frontage in the towns of Casco and Otisfield. About 1400 acres. This Lake has no public Marina, however there is a town beach and launch that is exclusively for the use of the town residents of Otisfield. That means the if you own any property at all in the town of Otisfield, you have a right of way onto this Lake. Pleasant is a long thin body of water, and it is quite impossible to see from one end to the other. Again, you will find that property values are high on this lake due to the fact that it is commutable from Portland.

Sebago Lake
The Crown jewel of the Lakes Region. Quoted as covering an area that is 30,000 acres, with frontage in the following towns: Casco, Naples, Raymond, Sebago, Standish, Windham, and the town of Frye Island.  It can take you more than 24 hours to slowly motor around the perimeter of the lake. The lake is over 300' deep in places, and serves as the resevoir for the Portland Water District. Sebago Lake has numerous marinas, restaraunts, and public launches that service visitors and people that own property on the lake. In my opinion, if you plan to boat around on Big Sebago, be sure to have at least a 20' long boat. It is not at all uncommon to have 3' waves out there. If you are riding in a small 16' bow rider, like the boat I have, you will be tossed around.

Thompson Lake
Frontage in the towns of Casco, Otisfield, Oxford, and Poland, about 4450 acres. It is hard for me to be objective here because I live on this lake, so of course it is my favorite. Thompson is a spring fed lake, and our lake association boasts that we have the best water quality of any major lake in the entire State of Maine. From where I am at in Poland on the southern most end of the Lake, you can commute 55 minutes and be in Sunday River for winter skiing. I am also giving you the winter commute time. Thompson has tremendous bass fishing, and is host to serveral tournaments in the summer. Thompson has one full service marina.

Tripp Pond
Frontage entirely in the town of Poland encompassing about 700 acres. Tripp is an excellent body of water if you like to fish Bass. One item to note about Tripp is that the use of personal watercraft is prohibited, ( no jet skis ). There are no other kinds of boating restrictions though. I think that it is interesting that when the ban went into effect these watercraft manufacturers were trying to emulate certain motorcycles in making their craft sound louder and badder. Now that they see lakefront owners will exlcude them, they have in recent years toned down the noise but not the horsepower.
